It is vain for you to rise early, To retire late, To eat the bread of anxious labors— For He gives [blessings] to His beloved even in his sleep.
Psalm 127:2 (AMPLIFIED)
This is where many Christians fall in their Christian life. They trust God when they see that everything is going well. But when things start to go against their expectations, especially if they have spent time in prayer, they begin to doubt God and ask all kinds of questions that they will never have the answers to.
Although this verse is a promise from God to care for us at all times, it does not encourage us to become lazy. The true motive of the verse refers to the vanity of men. He talks about those who work too much during the day and stay late at night to get more out of life. We can understand the idea of the verse when we know that it comes from Solomon who deals a lot with vanity. What he means is that God always cares for those He loves, even while they sleep, because He knows their true needs.
What I would like to draw your attention to in this verse is that it affirms that total dependence on God's intervention guarantees our well-being and success in all areas of our lives without our need for do more than we should to earn more. Even if it satisfies us, we work in vain because in the end we reap pain because of our extra efforts. God knows your every need and He knows how to meet them in abundance, trust Him.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
