God's Righteousness

God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.

Matthew 5:6 (NTL)

When Jesus refers to a hunger and thirst for righteousness, He means an intense and constant need for the presence and will of God. In this sense, we must understand that this hunger and thirst are the most powerful motivations in the life of the believer. They produce an urgent need and push us to go deeper to satisfy them. They awaken in us a burning desire to pursue God's justice.

Hunger and thirst for God's righteousness is a sign of spiritual maturity. Because our carnal nature never hungers for righteousness, we cannot make ourselves righteous. No matter how hard we try, we will always fail and be dissatisfied. However, in Jesus our hunger and thirst will be satisfied. As Christians, we must always have a desire to seek God's grace and righteousness more and more each day.

Today I encourage you, if you hunger and thirst for God's righteousness, to spend more time studying and meditating on His Word, to also spend more time worshiping Him, praising Him and seeking His face. I guarantee you that when you seek God in Jesus Christ, you will be satisfied, because He is the only source that can satisfy your hunger and thirst.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
