Test and Examine

Don’t add anything to what I command you, and don’t take away anything from it; just follow the commands of the Eternal your God that I’m giving you now.

Deuteronomy 4:2 (VOICE)

For some, as soon as they hear a preacher expounding on his refined knowledge of the Bible, they are amazed and begin to dream of wanting to be like him. Out of ignorance, they elevate these preachers to such a level of glory that they submit to everything they say when they speak. Therein lies the trap. These preachers are beginning to set aside the Bible to preach what they say is a revelation from God.

It is to avoid this heresy that God commanded us to study the word and meditate on it day and night. Jesus also told us, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” A thorough knowledge and understanding of God's word will allow us to identify those who go beyond what the Bible prescribes. So when you hear these preachers, you will be on your guard. If what they say is not confirmed by the teaching of the word, everything that comes out of their mouths will be false teaching.

The Bible warns us not to add or take away from what God has revealed in His word. Which means that we must not accept teaching that is not taken from the Bible either. So I implore you today not to accept any doctrine that is not biblical. Be wary of what you hear. Test and examine each teaching based on the inspired word of God Himself.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
