So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17 (NKJV)
As mentioned in the previous meditation, to have faith in God, one must believe that God exists; To believe that, you have to know Him, and to know Him, you have to spend time in His presence and in His word. Because you cannot know God if you cannot devote time to prayer and fasting. You cannot know God unless you sit down to study His word. You cannot know the God you serve unless you receive revelation through His word.
Your leader's teaching can help you understand who God is. He may help you see more clearly how to live a Christian life, but it will not help you grow in the knowledge of God Himself. David understood this, so he said, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." He knew the will of God, he knew the desires of God's heart, he lived by the word of God, and finally he put his faith in God.
Faith requires two things from you, (1) spending more time in prayer to discover God's will, and (2) studying his word to find out what He wants from you and what He has accomplished. As long as you can do this, you can grow in faith as defined in the Bible.
Amen.
