Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.
Proverbs 18:21 (ESV)
At 21, Marcel realized that he could not excel in his life, that he always believed in the success of others, encouraged them and motivated them, while he refused to believe in his own success, as if he himself did not have this right. His parents counted on him, but he could not move forward with his projects. When he went to see a psychologist, he confessed that even at school, he always had the lowest average in his class.
After 4 sessions with the psychologist, he realized that his failure is due to the fact that he received negative messages from his parents all his life as a child, telling him that he will never achieve anything in his life and that he will see others succeed around him. All these messages combined throughout his life have made him a failure for himself and a source of motivation for others. His parents’ tongue had a destructive power over his life, making him believe that he was not cut out for success.
This verse helps us understand that what we say with our tongue can, directly or indirectly, destroy the lives of others, even our children. The epistle of James tells us that our tongue can be both a blessing and a curse. The fruits that result from the way we use it can bring us joy as well as remorse for the rest of our lives. Do not use your tongue in a way that destroys the lives of others, but use it to bless others so that this blessing will come to you in the future as well.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
