But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)
“To sanctify the Lord God in your hearts” means to place Him at the center of your thoughts, to give Him the best part of your life. The Word of God distinguishes us, it sanctifies us. We must put God first in our lives. This is the only way for us to truly live a Christian life according to the heart of God. Not only must we do this, but we must also know why we choose to follow God. To sanctify God in your heart is to have your mind filled with the thought of God.
As children of God, we should be ready to answer anyone who asks us questions about our faith in Christ and our trust in God. We must be prepared to defend our faith against anyone who challenges it. We should all be equipped to speak of our blessed hope and the saving grace of God.
Today, whatever our fears, the Bible tells us that we must be willing to share our faith with others; we must always be ready to explain why we believe in Jesus and why there is hope in Him.
May the grace and the peace of God be with you all.
