The Importance of Questioning

When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

Matthew 13:19 (NIV)

You are all familiar with this parable from Jesus, which illustrates the difference between those who hear the Gospel message. Jesus used the image of the sower to illustrate his point and clarify the position of those who receive the message, those who are motivated for a time, and those who allow life's circumstances to divert the message from their hearts. But this is not the central point of our topic, given the use of the expression "not understanding."

When we go to church and hear the pastor preach, some Christians are content to receive the message and retain the part that concerns them personally. Others, even if they don't understand, choose the parts that are clear to them. Consequently, when faced with life's difficulties, even after hearing several messages on faith, they forget what they have received. Hence the importance of participating in Bible studies and asking questions.

Asking questions during Bible study doesn't mean being illiterate or ignorant of God's Word. The disciples always questioned Jesus about things they didn't understand. That's why Jesus always explained the meaning of the parables to them. A better understanding of God's Word will not only help you live in obedience to His will, but also develop a perfect relationship with Him. It's always important to ask questions when you don't understand. This will prevent the evil one from stealing what is in your heart.
