Until He Finds You

What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?
Matthew 18:12 (NKJV)
What you own is far more important to you than what someone asks you to keep for themselves, even if they grant you all the rights and privileges over their possessions. What Jesus is expressing in this verse reflects more the idea of personal possessions and their value. We tend to think of this as a pastor's responsibility to seek out a member who has left his congregation. This is the best attitude for a shepherd.
However, when Jesus speaks of little children, He is referring to His disciples who know Him very well and are attached to Him. It is therefore important to note that the 100 sheep He speaks of represent His disciples, those who believe in Him, who follow Him faithfully, and who know His voice. If one of them goes astray, He will seek them out. He is not talking about someone who does not walk according to His Word and who leaves the church for nothing.
Christ places special importance not only on your attachment to Him, but also on anything that might lead you astray. In verse 10, He mentions the angels of Christians who constantly stand in God's presence. These angels are there to guide believers like you and me. You are one of the sheep Christ guides; stay attached to Him and walk according to His commandments. So, if you ever get lost, He will seek you until He finds you.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
