You Are Holy as God Declares it

But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

1 Peter 1:15-16 (NKJV)

You are undoubtedly one of those who are convinced of their faith and who will do everything to demonstrate it. I know many like you. But the only problem with them is that there are certain Bible verses that they still cannot assimilate or rather accept as fact. They believe they are saved because the Bible says so; they are forgiven because the Bible says so. But being holy, they still can't imagine themselves holy, even though the Bible says so.

When God declares that you are holy, it does not mean that you have immediately passed from a state of sinner to a state of holiness. If He created us in His image according to His likeness, then, as He is holy by nature, we have also inherited His nature. Except that this state of perfect holiness has not yet arrived. However, we must learn to walk in holiness as the Bible teaches us.

Remember that when God looks at you, He does not see the sins that cover you, but rather the blood of Christ that cleansed you from all filthiness. It is therefore in Christ that He declared that you are Holy. The question then is "How to walk in holiness?" by obeying the commandments of Christ and the voice of the Holy Spirit who speaks to us through the passages of the Bible. When you begin to study, meditate, and apply the word to your life, that is when you will learn to live in holiness as God commands us to.
