And I will be your Father, and you will be My sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.
2 Corinthians 6:18 (NLT)
When we sin, the questions that torment us all are along the lines of: How does God see us right now? Is He angry with us? Will He punish us? Will He forgive us this sin? The guilt we feel leads us to ask ourselves all these questions, and many more. Some of us feel so guilty that we don't even dare to beg His forgiveness. Even if the fear of God prevents us from entering His presence, the fact remains that God desires to hear us confess our sin before Him with a repentant and sincere heart.
Guilt is one of the feelings God wants us to experience when we sin. Otherwise, we would have no reason to ask Him for forgiveness. Fleeing from His presence because of our sin is never a good solution. Just as God allowed your parents to love and support you despite your mistakes, He Himself will never change. He will never stop loving you and being a Father to you. Even in the midst of our sins, we remain His children, and He remains our Father. That is why running away from Him is a mistake.
Satan always expects us to flee from God's presence. The more guilty we feel and the more we refuse to ask for forgiveness for fear of being rejected by God, the more he takes advantage of this to whisper in our ear that God no longer sees us, that we are not worthy to enter His presence. His only goal is to distance us from God. Always remember that your Heavenly Father loves you so much that He gave Jesus Christ on the cross so that your sins would be forgiven. Instead of thinking about the anger He might unleash upon you, think instead about the Fatherly love He shows you no matter what you do.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
