A Life Hidden in Christ

For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God.
Colossians 3:3 (HCSB)
One of the verses I struggled to understand after my conversion was: "It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me." It was explained to me many times, with numerous examples and illustrations, but I still had difficulty grasping it, until one day a pastor used the movie Ghost as an example to help me understand this spiritual reality. Physically, I exist, I live in my body, but it is Christ who is in control, just as in the movie, Oda Mae takes control of Sam's body to speak to Molly. It was the best example he could have used.
The sinful Christian, even though he has accepted Christ, continues to live in his corruptible body, which tempts him to sin and distances him from God. This means that because of our sinful nature, we are all spiritually dead to God. But Christ, through His death, opens the door that leads me to God. Therefore, even though our sinful nature condemns us before God, through Christ, we are alive and have the hope of eternal life. When you accept Christ as your Savior, you have the hope of eternal life. Even if you die in this mortal body, through the death of Christ, you will be resurrected on the last day.
Even if you feel spiritually strong and fully devoted to God's service, like any other Christian, you will sometimes have questions, doubts, and even wonder if you still have faith in God. This is not because you cease to be a believer as you were on the first day of your conversion. It is because, being spiritually dead, your physical body imposes needs on you that are contrary to God's will. You experience a fierce battle that weakens you even more spiritually, and you wonder why God doesn't come to your aid. Know that Jesus understands these moments; He will ensure that your hope is renewed and that your life remains hidden in Him forever.
May God's grace and peace be with you all.
