And when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.
Judges 3:9 (KJV)
It is often said that fathers are stricter than mothers when it comes to disciplining their children. This is an inescapable truth. However, this does not mean that mothers love more than fathers. Their love for their children is similar, except that they do not have the same goals or visions for the future, even though they must raise them together. Moreover, from the beginning, God distinguished the nature of men and women in matters of education.
When a mother punishes her child, she is showing love and compassion. She punishes to correct the error of the moment, unlike a father who, for his part, focuses on his child's future, so that the same mistakes do not recur and that they mature. If a father or mother punishes with love and compassion to correct, imagine God's position when He must chastise us for our sins. His purpose is not only to correct us, but also to spare us the consequences of His wrath and eternal hell. The Book of Judges presents such a story, repeated over and over again: the people sin, God chastises them. The people repent, God forgives them, the people obey God, and He blesses them.
If you read this book, you will understand the depth of God's love for His people. Although He punished them by handing them over to other nations, as soon as the people repented, He showed love and compassion. Under the weight of divine punishment, the people returned to God to cry out to Him. The Bible does not say that God resisted the people, but it does say that He raised up a deliverer. Whatever your fault or the gravity of your sin, know that God wants to forgive you and show you love and compassion. All you have to do is cry out to Him and confess your sin. He will not hesitate to come to you and deliver you.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
