A Saving Presence

And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost.

Luke 1:41 (KJV)

By His death on the cross, Christ demonstrated His power and the effectiveness of God’s plan to save men from their sins. But for this to happen, He had to be born to experience the reality of human life. Jesus did not become powerful as an adult; He already had His power from His mother’s womb. It took Elizabeth hearing Mary’s voice for the baby (John the Baptist) in her womb to leap and she was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Still in His mother’s womb, Jesus had a saving influence on people’s lives. Being one with His mother, He could make His saving presence felt. This proves that even though His ministry would begin 30 years later, He already had the anointing to change the lives of sinners.

If the baby Jesus, even in His mother's womb, could make another child jump, is it not necessary to ask the question of the effect that His ministry had on you. If before His departure He had given us the Holy Spirit, it is because He had Him with Him long before His birth. Today, we have something to celebrate. Even if we cannot refer to a specific date or period in history, we can at least say that Christ revealed himself among us for the salvation of our souls.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
