A Spiritual Struggle

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12 (NASB)

We often pay attention to the negative behavior of the people around us to make radical decisions about them. Someone says something to us that we don’t like or embarrasses us in front of everyone, instead of acting with wisdom and discernment, we let ourselves be carried away by anger and animosity, we react in a way that should not be ours. We create an even more embarrassing situation that will follow us for the rest of our lives.

This is exactly what Satan seeks to do to those who confess their faith in Jesus Christ. He seeks their sore spot and plays his card on it to silence them. When Paul says that it is not against flesh and blood that we struggle, it is a way of warning us of the enemy’s traps to make us fall where we least expect it. Often, the situation we are facing is a trick of the enemy to humiliate us and make us flee from the face of God.

No matter how cunning the enemy is, as a Christian you must put on the armor of the spirit to fight with him. You cannot do it alone, you will need the fruit of the spirit and His presence. Remember Satan's intervention with God to bring down Job. He touched everything that could reduce Job to helplessness. Your situation is not always what you think, do not try to solve it alone, call on Jesus Christ to help you in your spiritual struggle.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
