A Warning to Consider

But My righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.

Hebrews 10:38 (ESV)

A high school student was struggling with math, forcing him to skip class. His teacher, noticing his weaknesses and behavior, offered to help him, but under certain conditions: he was never to miss a math class and was required to stay after school to work with him privately. Knowing that he risked failing and repeating the class, the teacher made it clear that if he missed a class, he would no longer be able to help him.

Sometimes, opportunities to move forward present themselves to us, but for one reason or another, we choose to abandon the path that leads us to our destination. Just as the teacher warned this student, God warned His people, telling them that they would walk by faith before Him. But if they abandoned faith and turned from His path, they would no longer be pleasing in His sight. In other words, He would no longer grant them His grace and blessings.

Even in His warning, God still considers us righteous in His eyes. We are not righteous before God according to our personal merits, but according to what He Himself has decided. This is why God chooses to exhort us to have faith in Him and His promises. Do you have any reason to stray from the path God has laid out for you? Know that no other path can guarantee what God has in store for you. Do not be carried away by the world and its attractions; you risk losing God's grace and goodness.

May God's grace and peace be with you all.
