Are You a Disciple of Christ?

You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.
Mark 7:8 (NIV)
Mendez, a devout Christian, went to a public square one Monday morning to walk his dog. Upon arriving, he saw a man vigorously proclaiming the Word of God, while no one was paying attention to his message. However, this didn't bother him; he continued preaching as if everyone was listening attentively. Mendez looked around to see if anyone was listening, but unfortunately, no one was. He approached the man and advised him to stop.
Mendez was shocked to hear the man reply that 90% of the people they saw milling around the square were church members and leaders. They weren't listening because, according to them, it was Monday; they were in a public square to relax; they didn't need the gospel message right now. Mendez asked him, "What has happened to God's people?" We are following the world. The world only needs God when it desires Him or when it has a problem that only God can solve. In fact, it is not God that the world needs, but His intervention.
Did you know that we Christians make the same mistake as the world? Even when we manifest our faith, we follow the world's tradition by neglecting our personal relationship with God. We are almost like those people in the public square. It's Monday; we don't need God's Word; we want to enjoy ourselves. That's when we reject God's commandments to follow the world's. Jesus tells us, "If you love me, keep my commandments." I would like to ask you this question: given what Jesus said, are you his disciple?
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
