Lord, who may dwell in Your sacred tent? Who may live on Your holy mountain?
Psalm 15:1 (NIV) - Read the Whole Chapter
Psalm 15 calls us to meditate and reflect on our personal relationship with God and how to enter into His presence. It asks 2 simple questions and gives us the answers to help us make the right choice. If there is another way to define it, I would say that this psalm is a call to integrity, justice and truth.
David, in this psalm, seeks to help and guide those who manifest a desire to please God. He describes 10 characteristics that qualify one who would be able to enter God's temple and climb His holy mountain. This is not to say that this list is exhaustive, but through his experience with God, he focuses on those that touch God's heart and are consistent with His law.
Remember that David lived under the law. Knowing that it would not always be easy to follow, he established the basic spiritual characteristics to follow for those who want to enter and live in the presence of God. If David relied on the law of Moses to develop these characteristics to help those who want to enter the presence of God, you and I today have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, teaching us and helps us live according to these same characteristics to walk in integrity, righteousness and truth.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
