Being Attached to the Word

We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

Hebrews 2:1 (NIV)

The Word of God is the only reliable teaching a Christian can receive without doubting what it says, and the only solid foundation on which they can build without fear of failure. However, how can we believe in something and rely on its strength and power without knowing it? This is why it is important not to neglect the Word of God. Taking the time to meditate on it and apply it to our lives is an important step in the life of every believer.

When the author of the book tells us that it is all the more important to attach ourselves to what we have heard, he is referring to the teaching and preaching of God's Word. Attending church should not be a weekly habit, but an attitude of worship toward God. For it is there that you will have the opportunity to share your spiritual concerns with other believers, to worship with them, and to receive revelations of God's heart for you and for the congregation through what will be taught.

However, this does not mean that it is only on this day that you will hear God's voice through His Word. Rather, it will allow you to receive a message to meditate on during the week. It will also allow you to discuss with your pastor what you did not understand during your meditation. By clinging to God's Word, you will not fall into the enemy's trap of leading you away from God by whispering lies to you. The Holy Spirit will use your knowledge of the Word to reveal God's heart to you. Stay clinging to His Word.

May God's grace and peace be with you all.
