Blessing or Curse

See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse; the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today; the curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28 (NIV)

Several definitions are given to the word "error," depending on the context and the idea being expressed. It can be defined as a wrong action, or as a truth taken for a lie. It can also be defined as an attitude that one believes to be right, but is not. When we talk about error, there is always a positive and a negative side that coincide.

That said, can we consider a sin an error when we know that what we are doing is not at all what we should be doing? Reading these verses, we can conclude that there is no doubt about it; a sin cannot be called an error. The Bible defines sin as disobedience to God's will, which means that we know what we are doing and we also know whether it is a sin or not.

David gives us an example of this in Psalm 51: "Against You, only, have I sinned, and done what is evil in Your sight." This proves that he knew his relationship with Bathsheba was sinful. He did it anyway. When we live according to God's will, we receive His blessings. But when we disobey, by committing a sin, it brings a curse or consequences. God warns you, because He wants to convince you that pleasing Him by obeying His Word will lead Him to bless you in all things. Live according to His Word and be blessed.

May God's grace and peace be with you all.
