Caring About Others

Blessed is one who considers the helpless;

The Lord will save him on a day of trouble.

Psalm 41:1 (NASB)

As much as God can bless us and care for us in difficult times, He commands us to do the same for others. His will is to teach us to always care about the needs of others and to have compassion towards them. He proves to us the value of his command to consider the situation of those who are suffering financially by blessing us abundantly.

The other verses reveal to us what God has in store for those who consider and care for the poor. God will save him in the day of trouble, He will protect him, He will keep him alive, He will bless him on earth, He will not hand him over to the good desire of his enemy, He will sustain him in his pain and He will ease him in his disease. This list is not exhaustive because the Bible mentions even more blessings, both spiritual and material, that God reserves for those who care for others.

The point I would like to draw your attention to today is that when God blesses you, it is so that you can be a blessing to others around you. If he gives you health, it is to encourage and pray with those who are sick. If he gives you the financial means, it is so that you can feed them, clothe them and take care of them. When you do all of this, you bring even more blessing upon yourself because that is what pleases God, a heart that cares for others.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
