Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:4 (ESV)
Testifying about the education he received from his father, Richard, a young pastor, was proud to express his gratitude to him for his efforts and the discipline he instilled in him. However, he reproaches him for one thing, it is that the education he received from him was a little too rigid at times. He even says that his father imposed punishments that exceeded his limits. He even admitted that none of his father's instructions reflected any aspect of the Christian life.
Many parents today impose strict disciplines on their children. They want to see their children succeed in life. But, sometimes, in the pursuit of success and achievement, they completely flout their education to the point that their children when they grow up rebel against them. This is exactly what Paul tries to teach the fathers of Ephesus, to avoid irritating their children. The Bible encourages discipline but it does not ask to do too much of it. She asks to educate children with love, according to the Lord.
Raising children, especially when you have several, is not always easy. But the Bible teaches us how to educate them so that they become adults, men and women, according to the heart of God. It is not pressure that will make them learn or become better, but it is compassion and love. Educating a child according to the Lord is teaching him His precepts so that he knows what God's will is for him. Educate your child according to God's way and he will succeed in his life.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
