Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.
Galatians 6:2-3 (NIV)
Paul's advice was not limited to the Christians of his day, it still applies to our times today. By carrying one another's burdens, Paul means that we must support others in their failures, their physical or financial trials, their sadness and their pain. The true Christian does not stand aloof and watch others suffer without doing anything. He acts exactly as Jesus would have done.
When a person is going through difficult times in their life, sometimes all it takes is a smile, a word of encouragement and comfort to help them regain strength. Sometimes it is our way of helping him that strengthens his faith and gives him the courage to move forward. Don't think you are better or have more faith than someone else because they feel discouraged by their situation. Each of us goes through, at one time or another, an ordeal that makes us vulnerable.
Paul encourages us all to fulfill the law of Christ which includes all His commandments. Your ministry begins when you care about the pain of others to help and assist them by praying with them and sharing words of comfort that will give them hope. Never neglect to carry the burden of your brother in faith so that he does not look elsewhere for the solution to his problems because your presence will mean a lot to him.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
