All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
John 6:37 (NIV)
Jesus gives us firm assurance when He says, "All that the Father gives Him." This is an assurance for Him, for the Father Himself has given them to Him; it is an assurance for us who have believed in Him, for our salvation comes directly from God. This is a truth found throughout the Bible, especially in the New Testament, that our salvation was planned by God long before the creation of the world.
Because God chose us to be saved through the sacrifice of the cross, it is clear that we will naturally come to Christ. Not because we want to, but because the Holy Spirit will place this desire in our hearts and convict us of sin, leading us to repentance. Isn't it good news to know that the assurance of our salvation comes directly from God, who Himself chose to be reconciled to us?
Here is the greater part of this truth. God didn't save us to leave us in ignorance of His will. He chose apostles to continue Christ's work, helping us grow in faith and knowledge of His intention. This is exactly what Paul says in Titus 1:1: "Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of God's elect and the knowledge of the truth in godliness." Isn't this excellent news?
May God's grace and peace be with you all.
