For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Hebrews 6:10 (NKJV)
After witnessing the sacrifices his mother had made for her church, young Miché expected the pastor to speak highly of her at her funeral. Instead, the pastor simply remarked that she was a good person who was always punctual. He did not even mention the ministries to which she had dedicated herself. Discouraged by these words, Miché decided never to set foot in that church again. He was deeply pained as he recalled how his mother would rise at 5:00 a.m. every Sunday to prepare the coffee and tidy up the church.
Miché’s mother is not the only one whose efforts went completely unnoticed; since she had passed away, it was her son who suffered most from this lack of recognition. Yet, many people experience this situation: no one remembers what they have accomplished. Even if people overlook your efforts and sacrifices, God Himself will not neglect the slightest act of service you have performed. Every action you undertake for others with love and humility manifests God's glory. That is why He will reward you in due time. You have performed acts of kindness on this earth; therefore, it is on this earth that He will reward you.
Have you ever been the victim of ingratitude from the people you serve? It was painful, certainly. But remember the miracles Jesus performed and the messages of comfort He preached; yet, at the time of His arrest, even His disciples turned their backs on Him. He, too, was a victim, for just before the cross, that same crowd shouted, "Crucify Him!" Whatever you do, do it with all your heart, without expecting recognition from others. Do not seek the praise of men, but turn your eyes toward God, who will never forget your work, for it is for the glory of His name that you labor.
May the grace and peace of God be with you.
