Save me, God, for the water has risen to my neck. I have sunk in deep mud, and there is no footing; I have come into deep waters, and a flood sweeps over me.
Psalm 69:1-2 (HCSB)
A little girl who was playing on the floor with her toys got her skirt dirty. When she saw her mother cooking, she thought that her mother was too busy cooking to bother her. Instead of going to her father who was watching television, she went to her little brother who could not do much for her and instead of finding help from her little brother, she found herself covered in mud. Her mistake was to think that her mother and father were too busy to care about her.
This is the mistake that many Christians make today when they find themselves in really difficult situations. They tend to believe that God is too busy to help them. Even when they pray, they do not persist, thinking that God will not do anything. They prefer to believe that God Himself imposes their situation on them because if He wanted to, He could prevent them from finding themselves in such a situation. David could have thought like them, but he did not. He may have believed that God was punishing him because of his sin, but he still called out to God for help in his distress.
If David was able to come before God to explain his situation despite the punishment God inflicted on him and his descendants, what keeps you from going before God in prayer or makes you believe that He is too busy to help you. The Bible tells us to “cast all our cares upon God and He will take care of us,” this is a sure promise. When, like David, you find yourself bogged down and unable to stand, do not say that God is absent, cry out to Him until He answers you because He is the one who has promised to hear and answer you.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
