God Will Enlighten You

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature be thus minded; and if in anything you are otherwise minded, God will reveal that also to you.

Philippians 3:14-15 (RSV)

Every Christian should have one goal: to be like Jesus Christ in every way, without failing in anything. This isn't always easy, because as long as we live in this corruptible body, we will always be exposed to all kinds of temptations and evil desires. However, we have the Holy Spirit, given to us to remind us of Jesus' teachings and guide us on the right path. Even if the desire to sin torments you, it doesn't cause you to lose God's grace.

Paul reminds us that, like him, we must strive toward this goal: to be like Christ. Responding to His call means walking in His footsteps and living as He lived. This is a thought you must cultivate daily, because it helps you draw closer to God in Jesus Christ. In Him, God has declared you righteous, for in Him the righteousness of God has been manifested. We all sometimes doubt God's grace and favor, especially when everything seems to be going wrong in our lives.

That is when God does not leave us in ignorance. You strive to know Him, you meditate on His Word, you persevere in prayer, but despite all this, your life seems to be slipping away. In those moments, God will find a way to comfort you and assure you that He is in control. He will never abandon you as if your efforts were in vain. Have faith in God, continue to follow His ways, for even if you make mistakes or do not understand His ways, He will reveal His will to you.
