For because He Himself has suffered and been tempted, He is able to help those who are tempted.
Hebrews 2:18 (RSV)
Although he has received a good training in auto mechanics, Richard has spent time practicing everything his employees will have to do on a daily basis in his garage. He knows how long each type of intervention will take to repair a car and the physical effort it will require. Since this has helped him to identify his weaknesses and strengths, he understands very well the difficulties his employees encounter in carrying out their tasks in order to help them.
Jesus did the same thing, He shared our humanity for 33 years. He knew the experiences of our childhood, our mistakes of youth and what we feel and live as adults. He was made like us, "100% human in every way". Having lived in a human body, He knows and understands our weaknesses and fears. He knows very well what struggle we are fighting and the temptations we face every day of our lives.
Jesus could well have avoided living our human experience, and lived His divine nature among us. Yet, to better help us through our trials and grow in faith, He preferred to experience our weaknesses. If He asks us to obey, it is because He Himself led a life of obedience to His Father. When pain strikes you, do not think that He does not understand your sighs. He knows and understands them, so come before Him with all your worries and He will take them on His shoulder as He took the cross for you. Trust in Him.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
