Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.

Proverbs 10:19 (NIV)

It is not forbidden to express one's thoughts, one's opinion on a fact. But too much talking can lead us to sin even without knowing it because some of our words can affect those who listen to us, especially when we speak in anger to bring out our emotions. Often, in a state of anger, we say whatever comes to mind to make our values understood, or even hurt our interlocutor. This is where we exceed our limits.

Jesus often found himself in situations where the priests and sadducees sought to get Him to blaspheme (commit sin) in His responses. However, He always showed wisdom and humility. He hit them hard and always attacked their faith and their relationship with God, but he did it in such a way that they could never condemn Him for sinning.

Like Jesus, we must learn to exercise wisdom, humility, and patience in our conversations with others, or we will surely sin. The author gives us the best solution to adopt when we want to avoid sinning and then having to ask for forgiveness. He suggests we hold our tongues. In other words, keep silent. If you like to talk a lot, try hearing yourself talk from time to time to find out if you often hurt others, this will help you improve.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
