In the Arms of God

Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.

Hebrews 11:10 (NLT)

Hospitalized for over two weeks, an elderly man asked to speak to a pastor. He specified the type of pastor he wanted: a man of faith, filled with the Spirit, passionate about prayer, and with a powerful ministry of healing and deliverance. His wife contacted a pastor she knew, an evangelist and miracle worker. The pastor accepted her invitation to come and speak to her husband.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the pastor asked the man if he believed in Jesus. He replied that he did not, but that he was ready to accept Him as his Savior for the forgiveness of his sins. In reality, the man didn't really want to accept Jesus; he simply wanted to take an action that he believed would guarantee his healing. We meet many people at church who have chosen to accept Christ for precisely this reason: to find the solution to their problem, without giving particular importance to the salvation of their soul.

Abraham didn't seek a relationship with God to have the son he couldn't have. He sought God with all his heart and longed for a city and a life far greater than what God had granted him on this earth. You, too, have the same opportunity as Abraham to seek God's face and aspire to much more than what your eyes see. It's not too late. Your trials on earth are there to perfect you, transform you, and prepare you for the great day of the Lord. Seek the kingdom of God while you still live in this mortal body.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
