It Will Happen

“Teacher,” they asked Him, “so when will these things be? And what will be the sign when these things are about to take place?”
Luke 21:7 (HCSB)
One Saturday, during a prayer meeting, the service leader, interceding for each member individually, without even realizing it, began to prophesy and speak truths concerning each one's life. Regarding one woman in particular, he prophesied that she would soon move to another city, where God would use her for His glory. Like Christ's disciples, this woman was eager to know when this would happen.
Curious, the woman didn't even wait for the end of the service to ask the leader when and where she would be moving. Two weeks later, her sister, who lived in another city, called to say she needed her help. Without even taking the time to fully understand, she concluded that this was probably the prophecy she had been given. She packed her bags and went to find her sister. This was her greatest disappointment, because her sister hadn't expected her to come.
This is a mistake we all make when we receive a promise from God. We want Him to act quickly. We become curious and impatient. When we see time passing, we trust the first opportunity that seems to fulfill the promise. We don't consult God to see if it's the right time for His promise. When God makes a promise, He keeps it according to His schedule. Don't rush into the first opportunity that presents itself. Consult God's will.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
