But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 (NIV)
God did not wait for us to clean up our sins, make improvements or progress spiritually on our own to receive us. Instead, He sent His Son to die for us as payment for our sins and to break its power over us. The beauty of God's forgiveness is that no matter how bad your sin can be or when you committed it: whether in your past, present or future, your sins will always be forgiven through His Son.
Even before we were born God had a plan of salvation for you and me, Jesus died for our sins. It was not our faith in Christ that led Him to the cross, He gave himself as a ransom despite our sin nature. He died for us so that we could be safe and have eternal life.
Often when we talk about the death of Jesus Christ, we only talk about the forgiveness of sins. But Jesus did so much more for us through his death; We have been justified and reconciled to God; In Him we have been adopted into the family of God and now the power of sin is broken.
Jesus has overcome it, Hallelujah.
