Let Us Go Across to the Other Side

On that day, when evening had come, He[Jesus] said to them,
“Let us go across to the other side.”
Mark 4:35 (RSV)
Christ's disciples trusted him. They were ready to follow Him wherever He went, without questioning or doubting His decisions and choices. They were convinced of His divinity and believed in His spiritual ability to perform wonders. However, despite their attachment to the Son of God and their intimate relationship with Him, they lacked one thing to prove: absolute faith in Him.
This is where we all fail. We accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, we believe that His death cleansed us from our sins, and we trust in His promises. Yet, when the time comes to prove our faith, we back away and begin to doubt. What Jesus wanted to prove to His disciples by asking them to cross over to the other side was their lack of faith in Him and in His ability to deliver them from a difficult situation.
When the Bible speaks of the other side to which we must go across, it means that even as Christians, we can still be on the wrong side of the Christian faith, and therefore of God's plan for us. In this sense, crossing to the other side means leaving the carnal state of Christianity to reach spiritual maturity, grow in faith and knowledge of God, and develop a life of prayer. However, to pass to the other side, you must go through God's trials. So, be ready.
May God's grace and peace be with you all.
