Put Into Practice

Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice.

Ezekiel 33:32 (NIV)

Even though it is God who always gives him the messages that he must announce to the people, speaking to Ezeckiel, God explains to him exactly what is happening in the minds of those who listen to him. When they all come to sit in front of him to listen to him it is just to hear him speak but not to learn from him nor to put his teachings into practice. This Old Testament reality is not much different from what we see in our churches today.

Many Christians like to hear eloquent preachers. They like messages that promise and make them dream. But when they have to put them into practice, they give up without the slightest hesitation. In both periods we see the same error. In reality, it is neither the prophet nor the pastor that they reject, but God Himself.

David always wanted to be in God's house because he loved coming into His presence to worship Him, praise Him and also hear His word from the mouths of the priests. For him, the word of God came first. Psalms 119 is the proof of it. If God gave us His word it is to teach us to know Him better and to grow in an intimate relationship with Him. So don't follow Israel's example. Put the word of God into practice and let it work in your life.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
