Qualities That Please God

For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

2 Peter 1:9 (NKJV)

God has not only guaranteed our salvation in Jesus Christ; He has also given us the means to live a holy life, worthy of His calling. He has given us everything that contributes to life and godliness (v. 3). It is up to you to take advantage of all this in order to benefit from His favor and peace. Some Christians wonder how to live a godly life that pleases God. They think it is a difficult task to accomplish. This is the answer to that question that Peter gives us in this chapter.

The only way to live in a way that pleases God is to know His will through His Word. The more you study His Word, the more the Holy Spirit will reveal the heart of God to you. That's not all. Knowledge of God will help you grow in faith and develop the qualities necessary for a sanctified life. Anyone who does not develop these qualities will not progress in faith and will not reach a high level of spiritual maturity, thus falling into the traps of the enemy.

If you lack these qualities, you will be like a blind person walking in broad daylight but for whom it is always night. Even if you were fervent and zealous, you will lose the fire of the Spirit that burned within you. This is why it is essential to take the time to meditate on the Word of God and spend time in prayer. For as you grow in knowledge, God will pour these qualities abundantly into your heart. Virtue, patience, godliness, and love are qualities that please God.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
