And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.
Ephesians 2:1-2 (ESV)
How many times have you felt unworthy to enter God's presence through prayer or to merit His attention because of your condition, despite the assurance of salvation you have in Jesus Christ? Before accepting Jesus Christ, not only did you live in the flesh, according to the desires of the world, but you also felt comfortable even though your actions did not always please you.
This is what the cross covered for us sinners. We were distant from God. We circled around our sins without wanting to be rid of them. We didn't realize that our way of life was influenced by the enemy of our souls, Satan, who will always do everything in his power to drag us down with him to his destruction. But today, even if you stumble sometimes, you have nothing to fear, for the blood of Christ covers your sins and His death has spared you from God's wrath.
When you come to God through Jesus Christ, who took away your sins, the enemy no longer has any control over you. Although he will always seek to weaken you spiritually and make you doubt when you sin, be assured that in Christ, you no longer walk according to the ways of this world, under the power of the prince of the air. It is the Spirit of Christ who is working in you; rejoice in the Lord.
May God's grace and peace be with you all.
