Riches of All Kinds

For in Him you have been enriched in every way with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge.

1 Corinthians 1:5 (NIV)

God does not leave us in ignorance of His will and desire to purify and transform us into the divine nature. This is why we have His Word. Although this is a spiritual reality that we cannot fully embrace while living in this corruptible body, God has given us the Holy Spirit to partially reveal this dimension to us. The only person to have experienced this nature in His physical body is Jesus, after His resurrection from the dead.

One might wonder why we cannot receive this divine nature at the time of our conversion. The answer is simple: conversion does not make us pure or holy, but it allows us to draw closer to God in Jesus Christ. Yet, we remain sinners, harboring desires contrary to God's will. It is this truth that leads Paul to tell the Corinthian Christians that in God they have been enriched in every way. The riches Paul speaks of do not refer to the material goods they possess, but to the grace of God.

Like the Christians in Corinth, you too benefit from God's grace in Jesus Christ. When we consider that grace is a favor God freely grants us and extends to every aspect of our lives, we understand why Paul considered it a form of wealth. Moreover, with grace comes the Word, which is the complete teaching of Jesus Christ, and the knowledge of God's will, which the Holy Spirit reveals to us through these teachings. Today, you have this Word to guide and comfort you in your walk with God. Benefiting from its knowledge means benefiting from the riches of every kind that God grants you.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
