Strength in Trials

He gives strength to the weary, And to the one who lacks might He increases power.

Isaiah 40:29 (NASB)

Being in captivity and forced to live a life different from what they were accustomed to, the people of Israel felt tired and exhausted by what they endured. They believed that God had abandoned them, especially since they knew that the captivity was the result of their sin. With these words, Isaiah renewed to them the will of God and His promise to give them strength and vigor in the midst of their discouragement.

I'm sure you've already found yourself in a situation like this where, like the people of Israel, you wonder if God has abandoned you. You question His willingness to help you through your situation. Sometimes you even go so far as to bring up a past sin to justify that God is punishing you for that sin. You forget that His forgiveness is always available to you if you confess your sins with a sincere heart.

This passage clearly confirms to us that God always gives the necessary strength to those who trust Him. Your questions about your past will not stop God from increasing your strength and protecting you in the midst of your trials. You just need to remain faithful to His will. God not only gives strength, but He distributes it to all who trust in Him. The only condition is to trust Him.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
