Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14 (NIV)
A Christian alone can do everything possible to reach spiritual maturity. He can study the Bible on his own, read spiritual books to better understand certain biblical topics, attend enriching Bible conferences, develop a prayer life, and engage in many other activities that can truly help him. There is no doubt that he will see a change in his life after some time. He will see for himself the difference between who he was before and who he has become.
His faith in God will grow in proportion to the knowledge he has gained from God's Word and his life experiences. However, he cannot assess his spirituality alone. His efforts will have helped him lay the foundation for strengthening his faith and hope in the Lord. But he will need others to grow; he will also need their advice, their testimonies, and their presence to comfort him when everything he knows about God and everything he has experienced is not enough to help him in times of crisis.
Sometimes, our hope in God needs the voice of another to remind us of it. We may be spiritually strong, but in the midst of trials, we need other Christians to comfort us, strengthen us, and encourage our hearts. They simply need to remind us that the God we know will not abandon us. This is where our spiritual foundations will help us overcome difficulties. As you strengthen yourself in faith through God's Word, remember that you need others to walk alongside you and guide you.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
