But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
1 Thessalonians 5:4 (NKJV)
Many people worry about the Day of the Lord, which means the day of His return. Since the Bible speaks of the return of Jesus Christ, they know it will come at any moment and that it will also be a day of weeping and gnashing of teeth. While some would have preferred that this day never come or that it be only a secondary event due to their lifestyle, which they refuse to abandon, others, on the contrary, do not want to find themselves in a worrying situation when that day comes.
This is an inescapable fact, because, like it or not, it is a divine plan that no one can change. Speaking to the Christians in Thessalonica, Paul reassures them that they need not worry about everything they hear about this day, because unlike those who claim to know it or who announce the end of the world, they do not live in darkness. The interesting thing about what Paul says is that this day cannot come as a surprise to any believer in Jesus Christ.
If you are among those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ and live in harmony with God's Word, this day can come at any moment. You don't have to worry about what you would do or where you would be, because your heart is fixed on God. The Holy Spirit, who watches over you and guides your steps, will never allow you to fall into sin or find yourself where you don't belong. Like many other Christians, rejoice and wait patiently for the day of the Lord.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
