The Gospel is Preached

However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”

Romans 10:16 (NASB)

At the end of the school year, the math teacher gives the students the different chapters on which they will have to concentrate much more to prepare for the final exams. Some listened to him, received his advice and passed with flying colors. Others, on the other hand, through negligence and laziness, chose not to listen to him and to prepare other chapters according to their instinct. They failed the exams. They reproached the teacher for not having exhorted them enough.

Paul reminds us of this same truth about those who refuse to obey the preaching of the gospel. He goes even further by reminding us that even Isaiah had to live this same experience in his time. We must believe that it is not the gospel that is not preached as it should be, it is just some who refuse to accept it and receive Christ in their lives. They do not know that they will have to give an account to God on the last day and that they will be judged by the word of God.

If these negligent students had chosen to listen to their teacher instead of doing according to their personal desire, they would have succeeded too. If the gospel is preached, it is because God has a plan of salvation for you. Do not let yourselves be carried away by the desires and lusts of this world, because one day you will have to face God. What would you say to Him? Take the proclamation of the gospel seriously and receive Jesus into your heart. This is a grace that is reserved only for those who believe.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
