The Important Details

You must obey My laws and be careful to follow My decrees. I am the Lord your God.

Leviticus 18:4 (NIV)

All parents expect their children to obey them. Unfortunately, some find themselves with rebellious children who disobey. In this case, they often try to discipline them to prevent them from causing problems. Some parents, faced with their children's disobedience, don't take the time to ask questions to better understand the situation. They think that disciplinary methods are the ideal solution to correct their children. In reality, the problem doesn't stem from the child, but rather from the lack of clarity in the parents' instructions. They express what they think their child should understand.

Notice the details in God's commandments; He specifies exactly what we should do and what we shouldn't do. Even with these details clearly defined in God's Word, we continue to sin as if nothing were wrong. Imagine the situation of children who know what their parents think instead of knowing what they should do. When God asks us to obey His Word, it's because He clearly commands us what to do and why. It is these details in His commandments that help us keep them in our hearts and put them into practice.

Obedience is doing what God's Word tells us to do, in the way described in the Bible. God doesn't command us to love without explaining how; He explains it not only throughout the Bible, but He also gave His life out of love for us, to help us better understand His love. Your obedience to God is not just about knowing His Word, but about putting into practice what He has given in every detail, so that you can apply them. If you don't know how to obey in a way that pleases God, take the example of Christ, who is the manifestation of the details of God's commandments in His word.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
