The Inner Life of Prayer
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Colossians 4:2 (NIV)
Prayer should be a permanent dialogue with God. Believers should pray without ceasing. The prayer must become as regular as the breathing. Prayer is not meant to be used only when we have an emergency, it should be ongoing whether all is well or not.
A major benefit of prayer is aligning our will with God's will, which leads to understanding who God is. Also believers must be “Watchful” in prayer. Sometimes when we are so tired physically or mentally, we struggle with sleep when we pray. Other times we pray as if we were sleeping.
Prayer is not something we do blindly or randomly, it must be intentional and deliberate, because it has a purpose. That of being in communion with God. This is why God asks us to be Watchful while we pray. We need to pray with an insightful heart and an alert mind so that we can receive revelation and grow in the truth of God as we pray. It will also help us to be able to overcome enemy interference.
Prayer prepares us for anything we may face, which is why God wants us to persist in prayer no matter what may befall us.
May God bless you all!
