The Mystery of the Kingdom

He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables".

Mark 4:11 (NIV)

When we speak of a secret, we mean something that no one knows and can know without a revelation. On the other hand, a mystery is something that is inaccessible, that human consciousness cannot understand without a demonstration or a detailed explanation. That said, we can understand that by speaking of a secret or a mystery, Jesus is referring to God's plan for the salvation of men.

In the Old Testament, despite all that God did to show His will to save His people, the kings, prophets and priests could not see what was hidden behind God's attitude. Abraham did not understand it, Moses saw it from afar without understanding it, Daniel predicted it without being able to identify it. Jesus came Himself to announce it to us and reveal it to us.

The mystery of the kingdom of God is the sacrifice of the cross that allowed us to get closer to God and no longer be under the condemnation of sin. Today, there is no more mystery or secret. The door of salvation is open to all. God does not play favorites, He wants everyone to be saved. No need to seek to understand God's will, Jesus is the living proof of His secret. Open your heart to Him and become a child of the kingdom because your place is already waiting for you in heaven.
