The Silence of God

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)

One day, in a Bible discussion group, the leader asked a question that piqued the interest of all the participants who wanted to prove their knowledge of the Bible. Each one, wanting to justify his position, came with his arguments with supporting verses. Among them, there was a calm and attentive young man who, in his corner, said nothing but was content to listen to the discussion.

When finally, the leader of the group asked him what he thought of the reasoning, he gave the answer that would silence all those who thought they knew everything. He had the right and adequate answer that surpassed all the others. This earned him the respect of the leader and all the participants. He was in control of the situation and knew the subject very well, but he chose to let them express themselves.

The attitude of this young man clearly reflects the teaching of this verse. God does not seek to prove himself to anyone. When He has to speak, He does not give an explanation, He simply says to know that He is God and that He has dominion over everything. The world wonders a lot about His existence and His works, He keeps quiet and waits for the right moment to reveal Himself. As Christians, we do not need to prove that God exists, His works speak for Him. Do not worry about what the world around you thinks of God, serve Him for who He is.

May God’s grace and peace be with you all.
