Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
Romans 5:9 (NASB)
Some Christians doubt God's desire to forgive their sins, especially when they know they could have avoided them, but they still sinned. I often hear members of my church share this kind of problem. They are sometimes tormented and completely lost, thinking that God, having seen their inclination to sin before they commit it, will not listen to their prayers and will prefer to abandon them.
This is a worry many Christians feel when they sin against God, even if they don't speak openly about it. God does not reverse His decisions because of our mistakes. He knows our weaknesses. That is why, despite our condition and our inclinations to sin, He has declared us righteous. You and I are not righteous because we are holy or because we will not sin. We are justified because God considered the sacrifice of His Son as the means of justification. In other words, even as sinners, we are righteous before God.
If God did not want to forgive you every time you sin, He would not have handed over His Son to the cross. He would simply have exercised His wrath, not only on you, but on the whole world, for all have sinned. Rejoice in Christ, for your sins can no longer condemn you before God. That is why He asks you to always confess your sins. He knows that, despite your best efforts, you will eventually fall. Do not fear; you are covered by the blood of Christ.
May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
