Your Prayer Matters

Meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains.

Colossians 4:3 (NKJV)

A pastor's responsibility is to care for the spiritual life of his congregation. Most often, pastors provide general attention, meaning they view the entire congregation as one person they are speaking to, without regard for individuality. He preaches a message to everyone, leads prayer meetings, and presents Bible studies as if he were speaking to a person. It is up to each believer to benefit individually from what he preaches and teaches.

In such a case, the Church suffers from a lack of support and guidance. Although the pastor should focus on individual spiritual needs, his responsibility to fill any gaps causes him to neglect these individual needs. Whatever he does, he does it for the whole assembly. It is therefore the responsibility of each individual to pray for their pastor. Being a pastor is never an easy task. We need to focus on every little detail while focusing on the bigger picture. The pastor also needs help and prayer, contrary to what many think.

Even though you view your pastor as a man of God, anointed to fulfill his duty to care for the congregation, he also needs your prayer and support. Sometimes he needs your words of comfort so he can continue to do his job and your prayer that God will open doors for him to improve in everything he does. Preaching the word takes a lot, it takes your prayers. Do not think that a man of God is always full of spirits or that he cannot have moments of depression. Your prayers are also important to him.

May the grace and peace of God be with you.
