Be Like Jesus

Regarding not each his own [qualities], but each those of others also.

For let this mind be in you which [was] also in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 2:4-5 (LSG)

Within a group, there is always someone who has an ability or talent that places them in a privileged position compared to other members of the group. For example, the soloist in a worship choir always occupies an important place because of his ability to guide those who accompany him. But that doesn't make him more important than them.

It is this example of humility that Jesus Christ gave us when he humbled himself in front of his disciples to wash their feet. He was their master, their spiritual guide, yet he did not hesitate to prove that even a leader can humble himself in front of others. He put the needs of others before his own. This is exactly what we must do as Christians, forget what values us in order to value others.

It is a privilege given to us to show love, compassion and appreciation to others when the position of honor is ours. It is always a blessing to show respect to others through kindness. The only way to do this is to follow Jesus’ example by being humble and adopting an attitude of service.

May the grace and peace of God be with you all.
