Come Draw from the Source

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money,

come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

Isaiah 55:1 (NIV)

Each of us has already met or knows someone who is never satisfied with anything. He always wants more. If it is food, when he can no longer eat it, he takes it home. We even wonder why. The fact is that these kinds of people are never satisfied.

Like these people, we all look for ways to satisfy our deepest desires, but we never find what fully satisfies us. God is the one who created us, He knows what we need and what will satisfy us. Often we focus too much on material things, hoping that they will satisfy us, but unfortunately that is not the case. In this passage, the prophet Isaiah, knowing the source of all satisfaction, invites all those who hunger and thirst to come and draw from this source. You may think of his words in terms of food, but what he says goes beyond bread, wine and milk. What it offers is what can satisfy the desires of your heart: the presence of God.

God is the only one capable of satisfying your spiritual and emotional thirst as well as your material needs. You seek what your eyes see while God offers you what can give rest to your soul. This rest is found nowhere else than in His son Jesus. Come to Him and abide at His feet for in Him you will be satisfied more than you could ever imagine.

May the grace and the peace of God be with you all.
