Test me, Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind; for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.
Psalm 26:2-3 (NIV)
David cry out to the Lord to examine his inner being: his morals, his integrity, his character and motives. He is convinced that he has walked righteously before the Lord, and he is claiming God’s promise to come to his defense.
Despite his faith in God and in spite of being a man after God’s own heart, David encountered many difficulties and dangers. He trusted God’s word. He knows that God with His loving-kindness was ever before his eyes. As we examine the life and times of David the king, we see God in His unfailing promise working all things for his good.
It is always good to invite the Lord to examine our hearts and minds. As children of God we ought to call out to God in the day of troubles, knowing that through the hardship or difficulties we face, our faith in Him will be increased and strengthened.
Let us remember that God’s loving faithfulness and power is the same yesterday, today and forever.
May the Lord bless you all!
