Do Not Conceal Your Sin

People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

Proverbs 28:13 (NTL)

Sometimes we commit a sin that makes us ashamed of ourselves, of facing others, of our faith, and of coming into the presence of God. When we find ourselves in this situation, our first reaction is often to flee from the face of God, and when we do, the enemy takes advantage of this to lead us away from God, condemning us for our sin.

It is good to be ashamed or to have remorse, because God loves those who repent of their sins. There is no repentance without remorse or regret. Some people, in order not to destroy their image and lose the respect of others, always seek to hide their sin. In doing so, they ignore that a refusal of confession is for God a refusal of repentance. No sin should be hidden, for even if others know nothing, God sees you.

This attitude of wanting to keep silent will cause us to lose God's protection and blessings. He can leave us running around in the same circle and never being able to get out until we have the courage to admit our sins against Him. Don't let the burden of your sin consume you, God is faithful and merciful enough to forgive you. Repent and confess before God, He will not only forgive you but also forget your iniquities.
